For valuable consideration and by mutual consent of the parties, the project contract is modified as follows: 1. Section I of the Agreement, entitled "Description of Work," is hereby modified to add additional work or revise existing work as follows: In addition to work required under the original Agreement and any prior Amendments, Contractor shall provide all labor, materials, and equipment necessary to: This change makes the following revision to the contract documents: Add a new bid item to schedule 10 titled 'Special Structure Excavation, Class A'. This item pays for excavation and stockpiling of native material for use as backfill in the structural earth walls. Re-use of this native material saves the City in hauling and disposal costs. 2. This item pays for excavation and stockpiling of native material for use as backfill in the structural earth walls. II. REASON AND BACKGROUND FOR CHANGE The existing native material under the roadway was tested and found to be suitable to re-use onsite as Gravel Borrow for Structural Earth Wall. The City requested a cost proposal from the contractor to excavate and stockpile the material onsite instead of hauling offsite and disposing of it. Re-use of this native material saves the City hauling and disposal costs, totaling an estimated $45,000.
