Police Services Agreement
Between the Kent Police Department and the Kent School District
2018 - 2019
THIS AMENDMENT NO. 2 TO THE POLICE SERVICES AGREEMENT (hereinafter
"Amendment No. 2") is made and entered into by and between the City of Kent
and the Kent Police Department (hereinafter referred to collectively as the
"Department"), and the Kent School District (hereinafter referred to as the
"District") for the provision of school safety liaison services.
I. RECITALS
1.1 The parties entered into the Police Services Agreement on November 22,
2016, (hereinafter "Agreement"), wherein the Department agreed to provide a
commissioned police officer, holding the rank of Commander or higher, to assist with
communication and logistics between the District and the Department on issues
relating to school safety.
1.2 The Agreement provided for an initial one-year term, expiring on August
31, 2017, and authorized up to three (3) successive one-year terms thereafter, upon
the mutual agreement of the Department and the District.
1.3 The first option to extend having been exercised through the First
Amendment to the Agreement ("Amendment No. 1"), expired on August 31, 2018.
1.4 The parties wish to amend the Agreement to extend it for an additional
one-year term, through August 31, 2019, and to ratify all acts consistent with terms
of this Amendment No. 2 and prior to the effective date of this Amendment No. 2.
NOW, THEREFORE, and in consideration of the mutual promises set forth
herein, the parties mutually agree as follows:
U. AGREEMENT
2.1 TERM EXTENSION. The First Amendment to the Agreement expired on
its own terms on August 31, 2018. The parties have mutually agreed to exercise the
second of three options to extend the Agreement for an additional one-year term. The
Agreement is hereby ratified, renewed and reinstated. The term of the Agreement is
hereby extended through August 31, 2019. All acts consistent with the authority of
the Agreement and prior to the effective date of this Amendment No. 2 are hereby
ratified and affirmed, and all terms of the Agreement and this Amendment No. 2 shall
be deemed to have applied.

2.2 CONSIDERATION. The total compensation due from the District for the
services provided under the Agreement and this Amendment No. 2, for the time
period of September 1, 2018, through August 31, 2019, is as set forth in the attached
and incorporated Attachment A-1.
2.3 REMAINING PROVISIONS. Except as specifically amended by this
Amendment No. 2, all remaining provisions of the Agreement shall remain in full force
and effect.
IN WITNESS, the parties have executed this Amendment No. 2, which shall
become effective on the last date executed below.

TO
POLICE SERVICES AGREEMENT
The parties agree that the total cost to the Department to provide a School Safety
Services Liaison with a law enforcement officer who is employed by the Department
and holds the rank of Commander or higher to the District in accordance with the
terms of the Agreement and Amendment No. 2 is $166,199.69, regardless of actual
salary or benefit adjustments that may be made by the Department for the
Commander.
The District's reimbursement obligation, which is twenty-five percent (25%) of the
total cost to the Department for the Liaison provided to the District, equals
$41,549.92. This sum will be considered the District's total reimbursement obligation
for the Liaison provided by the Department for the duration of the performance period
of this Agreement, regardless of actual salary or benefit adjustments that may be
made by the Department for its officer the rank of Commander or higher.
The District shall pay said reimbursement in twelve (12) approximately equal monthly
payments spread over a one-year period starting September 1, 2018, with each
payment being made upon submission by the Department of a monthly invoice;
provided, in the event this Amendment No. 2 is executed after the term under this
Amendment No. 2 begins, the District shall pay the total compensation as set forth in
this Attachment, but will have fewer months to make such payments.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, the parties have affixed their signatures below, which shall
become effective on the last date noted.
