A RESOLUTION of the c1ty council of the
city of Kent, Washington, supporting the county-
Wide 2014-2019 Med1c One/Emergency Med1cal
Services (EMS) Levy.
A. The delivery of emergency medical services (EMS) is an
essential funct1on of the fire and life safety respons1b1l1ty of local and
regional government.
B. The internationally recognized county-wide tiered Medic
One/EMS m King County prov1des county residents and visitors essential
life-saving serv1ces throughout the reg1on regardless of locat1on, mc1dent
circumstances, day of week, or time of day.
C. It has been to the benefit of the cit1zens of the City of Kent to
support and participate m the county-w1de cooperative of dellvenng
Advanced L1fe Support and Basic Life Support serv1ces.
D. King County should contmue to exerc1se leadership and
assume responsibility for assuring the consistent, standardized, effect1ve
and cost efficient development and prov1s1on of emergency services
throughout the county.

Medic One/EMS Levy
E. State law, Revised Code of Washington (RCW) 84.52.069
provides for county-w1de emergency medical care and service lev1es.
F. The highly praised patient and program services of the King
County Med1c One/EMS system are funded by a county-w1de Medic
One/EMS levy that exp1res December 31, 2013.
G. The EMS Advisory Task Force, created via King County
Ordinance 15862, worked collaboratively w1th EMS Stakeholders to develop
the Med1c One/EMS 2014-2019 Strategic Plan to cont1nue prov1d1ng this
county-wide serv1ce and has recommended an in1t1al levy rate of 33.5
cents per $1,000 assessed value to fund EMS services throughout King
County.
H. The City of Kent s1gn1f1cantly participated 1n these d1scuss1ons
throughout the process and was represented on the task force.
I. RCW 84.52.069 requ1res that c1t1es with a population greater
than fifty thousand approve a county-w1de levy pnor to placement on a
ballot.
J. The City of Kent has a population of 119,100 thousand people.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF KENT, WASHINGTON, DOES
HEREBY RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
RESOLUTION
SECTION 1. The above is found to be true and correct in all
respects.

Medic One/EMS Levy
SECTION 2. The City of Kent supports the proposed six-year $.335
per thousand dollars of assessed value county-wide Medic One/EMS Levy
for the years 2014-2019 and urges the voters to vote for the Levy.
SECTION 3. -Effective Date. This resolution shall take effect and
be in force Immediately upon 1ts passage.
