A RESOLUTION of the City council of the c1ty of
Kent, Washmgton, recogn1zmg the M1ll Creek
Neighborhood Council.
RECITALS
A. The City of Kent has developed a Neighborhood Program to promote
and susta1n an environment that responds to res1dents by bu1ldmg partnershipS
between the City and 1ts res1dents. In add1t1on, the City of Kent encourages
res1dents to work together to form geographically d1stmct neighborhood counc1ls
as a means to foster commun1cat1on among residents and to enhance the1r sense
of commun1ty.
B. The City of Kent recogmzes and supports neighborhood counc1ls by
endorsmg a process to establish neighborhood boundanes, approve neighborhood
counc1ls, and prov1de neighborhood grant matchmg program opportun1t1es to make
Improvements m defmed neighborhoods.
C. The M1ll Creek neighborhood IS d1verse and m add1t1on to the
approximate 489 hous1ng un1ts, it also includes the F1rst Church of Nazarene and
the M1ll Creek Middle School. The M1ll Creek neighborhood IS roughly bounded to
the north by Kent Memonal Park and East James Street, to the east by Summ1t
Avenue North, to the south by East Sm1th Street and East Canyon Dnve, and to
the west by Central Avenue North, as depleted m the map attached and
Incorporated as Exh1b1t A. On August 23, 2007, the M1ll Creek neighborhood
completed and turned 1n an off1c1al reg1strat1on form requestmg that the City
recogn1ze the Mill Creek Neighborhood Council, allowmg 1t to take advantage of all

the opportuntttes offered by the City's Netghborhood Program, including the Ctty's
grant matching program.
NOW THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF KENT,
WASHINGTON, DOES HEREBY RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
RESOLUTION
SECTION 1. -Recognition of Neighborhood Counc1l. -The City Council for
the City of Kent hereby acknowledges the effort and commttment of the Mtll Creek
netghborhood and all those who parttctpated tn formtng the Mtll Creek
Netghborhood Counctl. The Kent Ctty Counctl hereby recogntzes Mtll Creek as an
offtctal Netghborhood Counctl of the City of Kent, supports Mtll Creek's communtty
butldtng efforts, and confers on the Mtll Creek Netghborhood Counctl all
opportuntttes offered by the City's Netghborhood Program.
SECTION 2. -Severability. If any section, subsectton, paragraph,
sentence, clause or phrase of thts resolutton ts declared unconstttuttonal or invaltd
for any reason, such dectston shall not affect the valtdtty of the remaining porttons
of thts resolutiOn.
SECTION 3. -RatificatiOn. Any act conststent wtth the authonty and pnor
to the effecttve date of thts resolutton ts hereby rattfted and afftrmed.
SECTION 4. -Effective Date. Thts resolution shall take effect and be in
force tmmedtately upon tts passage.
PASSED at a regular open publtc meeting by the ctty counctl of the ctty of
Kent, Washington, thts /8' day of September, 2007.
CONCURRED in by the mayor of the city of Kent this /~ day of
