An ordinance of the City of P�ent, regulating the use sand storage
of benzine, Gasoline, naptha or any hydro -carbon liquid within
the City limits.

Section 1. No person or persons, firm, company or corporation
shall use, Veep, staple or permit the keeping or storage of,
;within the limits of the City of Kent, in larger quantities than
one ballon, to to always ;.ept in close ietallic c, --ns or tanks, in
any one building or upon any one premises, place or street, any
of the products of petroleum, in^ludein benzine, -asoline,naptha
or any hydro -carbon liquid, which e;rill flash or emit an inflafba-
ble vcwpor at a temperature below 110 dc,,-rees iila,renheit, without
first obtaining a written or printed,,permit from the City Clerlr
of said City.
Section 12. Not more than fifty allons of C soline or any pro-
duct of petroleu,,i shall loo ircpt in any, one place except as herein
after provided. 11 ,`,��soline or any product of petroleu,z in ex-

outside the walls of any building at a spot cdesL;nated. by the
City Clerk. Over ten gallons and not more than fifty „allons

same; a filling pipe shall extend to the surface of the

the pipe with a chain and lock. The tank trust be connectod i,rith
a 3/4 inch vent pipe, which must rise of ,ht fart above the roof
of the building, and must have a return bcn� at the top, anC -must
not pass throuLh or into the building under any circu}nstances.
The tank lviay be empt:)d by i.ieans of a s- all hand suction pump.
Section 3. Over fifty gallons ��ust be storred under conditions
and regulations prescribed by the City Clerk, such conditions anal
regulations subject to the approval of the Streets and. Buildings
Conmittee of the City Council.
Section 4. Pio person or persons,firm,company or corporation
shall keep,store or use for burniriC;,cleaning,heatin�,i eneratin_,
gas for illuminating purposes,ony benzien,,asoline,naptha or any
product of petroleum which will flash or o,.iit an inf lauma,ble vapor
at a temperature below 110 degrees Farenhoit, in quantities of
over one gallon within the limits of the City of Kent, without
a written or printed per::it lessued and si gned by the City Clerl.,
and countersi6necd by the chairnan of the streets and bui.ldin;s
committee of the City Council.
Section 5. Permits will be issu,_d by the clerk and si;-,,ned by
chair.,aan of said committee unless in ,heir jugment the use as
proposed by the applicant in the .ianner and quantity proposed
will be dangerous to persons ane' property.
Section 6. Any person,firm,conpany or corrorationviolating any
of the provisions of this ordinance shall be deemed guilty of a mis-
demeanor and on conviction .•rill be fined in any sure not exceed-
ing one hundred dollars; and the continuance or maintenance of such
violation shall be dee-ped a now offense foe each day so continued
or maintained.
