ORDINANCE NO.373a
AN ORDINANCE of the City Council of the City
of Kent, Washington, amending Chapter 2.56 of the Kent
City Code, entitled "Diversity Advisory Board," to
increase the number of members from seven (7) to nine
(9).
RECITALS
A. On or about August 4, 1998, the City Council adopted Ordinance No.
14, which established the Diversity Advisory Board to promote and facilitate active
and participation by diverse cultures within the Kent Community.
B. The City Council desires to increase the membership of the board from
(7) to nine (9) members in order to broaden the perspective and increase the
on issues relating to diverse cultures being considered by the board; NOW
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF KENT, WASHINGTON,
HEREBY ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
1 Diversity Advisory Board —
Increase to Nine Members
SECTION 1. — Amendment Amending Section 2.56.040 of the Kent City
entitled "Composition of the board," to read as follows:
See. 2.56.040. Composition of the board. The board shall consist of
nine (79) members who shall be appointed by the Mayor and confirmed by the
Council. Membership shall be Kent residents and, to the extent possible,
,entative of the diversity of the community. Board members shall serve as City
teers without compensation.
SECTION 2. — Severability. If any one or more section, subsections, or
es of this Ordinance are held to be unconstitutional or invalid, such decision
not affect the validity of the remaining portion of this ordinance and the same
remain in full force and effect.
SECTION 3. — Effective Date. This ordinance shall take effect and be in force
(30) days from and after passage as ppovided by law. %%.
