A RESOLUTION of the C1ty of Kent,
Washington, regardmg the vacatwn of a portion of Snnth
Street and Thompson, lymg between the northerly
productwn of the west lme of Lot 11 m Block A m
Meeker's supplemental plat first add1l!on, m volume 5,
page 96, produced to the north !me of sa1d Sm1th Street,
and the west of the west !me of SR 167, and also that
portwn of Thompson Street, lymg w1thm sard plat lymg
north of the easterly productwn of the south !me of Lot 15
m sard Block "A" produced to the east !me of sa1d

heanng on the proposed street vacation for August 20,

WHEREAS, a pellllon, attached as Attachment 1, has been filed by Sllll
Manor Kent, LLC to vacate a portwn of Sm1th Street and Thompson Street, a deeded
street legally descnbed m Attachment I, m Kmg County, Washington, and
WHEREAS, the petition IS s1gned by the owners of at least two-th1rds of
the real property abuttmg that portiOn of Sm1th Street and Thompson Street to be vacated,
and
WHEREAS, the petltwn 1s mall respects proper, NOW, THEREFORE,
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF KENT, WASHINGTON
DOES HEREBY RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS·
I Street Vacation-
Smith Street and Thompson Street
SECTION 1. A public hearing on the street vacation petition requesting
the vacation of a portion of Smith Street and Thompson Street shall be held at a regular
m~etiD.g of the Kent City Council at 7:00p.m., Tuesday, August 20, 2002, in the Council
Chambers of City Hall located at 220 4th A venue South, Kent, Washington, 98032.
SECTION 2. The City Clerk shall give proper notice of the hearing and
cause the notice to be posted as provided by state law, Ch. 35.79 RCW ..
' SECTION 3. The Planning Manager shall obtain any other necessary
information from appropriate departments and shall transmit the information to the
Council so that the Council may consider the matter at its regularly scheduled meeting on
August 20, 2002.
PASSED at a regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Kent, Washington
this /6 day of July, 2002.
CONCURRED in by the Mayor of the City of K-ent, this lb day of July,
2002.

We have requested a partial street vacatiOn for the mtersect10n of Smith and Thompson
streets All access to the portiOn of these streets we are requestmg to be vacated only
enter or encroach on our project
In May 2002 we purchased the Skyview Apartments, wluch are now apart of our overall
project and will have no need to mclude a separate access We also purchased Dr
Harmon's land so that there Will be an access form Smith street to Hamson street without
reqmnng a tum-around
In additiOn, we have asked the State to vacate their land along Thompson Street .md plan
to landscape that land all the way to Meeker Street Our goal Is to be a contnbutmg asset
to the new City landscape and mfrastructure
