HomeMy WebLinkAbout304Ordinance An ordinance of the City of Kent, providing for the Lmprovement of that portion of Shinn Street in the said City, extending from gtoond Avenue to for west boundary linits of the said City, by grading the same, and pursing a six inch coating of crushed rook 24 feet wide along they center thereof, all as contemplated in Resolution No.1-3.Q.-------- ....... of the City Council of said city, creating a local improvement district therefor, and providing that payment for said improvement be made by special as- sessments upon the property in said district, payable by the mode of "payment by bonds." THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF KENT DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS; Section 1. That , that portion of Shinn Street in the Said Ci ty, ex• tending from Second Avenue to the west boundary limits of the said City, be n,proved by bringing the s arae leo grade! to the width of forty feet along the center thereof making shoulders six inches high along the full length thersof,whicsh shoulders shall be at a distance of 112 feet from the center of the street on each side thereof,orowning the, 24 foot strip between the shoulders to the h+eighth of 6inchse and covering the said 24 foot strip with a six inch coat of crushed and that such other work be done as may be necessary in connection therewith, all according to the plans and specifications therefor prepared by the City I�ngineer and on file in the office of the City Clerk, marked "Filed ------------------ J'UAAV--- 1-7-th.---------- 191 > hereby adopted for the said work. which plans and specifications are Section 2. That the cost and expense of said improvement, including all necessary and incident- al expenses, shall be borne by and assessed against the property included in the assessment district hereinafter created in accordance with law. The City of Kent, shall not be liable in any manner for any portion of the cost and expense of said improvement except as herein provided. Section 3. There is hereby created and e ta.blished a local improvamept district to be known and called "Local Improvement District No.l.:----------- "All of the property between the termini of the said i proven ent]abutt abct is utting, ribed a djace is vic- inal or proximate to the portions of the streets an(l avenues improved, to a distance back from the inraginal lines thereof, as by law provided." Provision for the issue, negotiation and sale of said bonds, or for their delivery to the contractor, if the city so elect, shall be made by ordinance hereafter to be passed by the Council. Section 5. Upon the letting of the contract for such improvement the City Clerk shall at once• prepare an assessment roll. for said district in accordance with the provisions of the laws of Wash- mgton and the ordinances of said City, and shall file tine same in his office and as soon as practicable present the same to the Citv Council for the consideration of that body. Section G. This ordinance shall take effect five days after its publication as by law required.
