.AN ORDINANCE providing for the construction , main-
/ terse noe and repair of steam and electric railway and street
car crossings withpnthe Town of Kent; declaring a violation
of the same to be a nuisance and providing for an ebptement
thereof.

That every person or corporation constructing, main-
taining or operating a steam or electric railroad or street
car line within the Town of Kent, shell construct and main-
tain a goad and sufficient crossing where its road -bed crosses
public roads or streets now or hereafter to be built for
public use; each crossing shall be constructed of the mA t-
arials and in the manner following: on the outside of each
rail shell be laid and securely spiked to the cross ties a
plank not less then ten inches in width, four inches in
thickness, nor less then the full width of the street in
length to be of good and sound timber; the spade between the
rail shall 1,0 either planked with like planking for a like
distance or graveled so that vehicles of all kinds may easily
crows the same; and there shall be made or constructed good
and sufficient approaches thereto of equal width and easy
grade.
Section 2, NOTICE OF FAILURE TO PROPERLY OWN,,TRUCT
CROSSING.
If any person or corporation shall fail to construct,
maaintain, and repair crossings ai provided for in section 1
(1) hereof; then the municipal authority or officers having
charge or control of the streets of the Town of Kent, shall
notify such person or corporation of the necessity of the
construction or repair thereof; which notice shall be in
writing and shall be served by delivery of a copy thereof
to the agent of the person or corporation most convenient

to said crossing.
Section 3, ABATR4"�NT OF ITUI` ANCE.
The building, operating or maintain ng of any steam
or electric railroad or street oar track contrary to the
provisions of this ordinance shall be deemed a nuisance,
and if the some be not abated by compliance herewith within
teen (10) days from and after the service and receipt of the
notice herein provided for the said Town of Kent may pro -
need to abate said nuisance under the general low or take
such other lawful action as it shell seem best or may con.
struct or repair such crossings and collect the expenses,
thereof ftom the person or corporation failing and refusing
to comply herewith.
Section 4, EFFECTIVE.
This ordinance shell be in force and effect from and
after its passage, approval, and publication.
