ORDINANCE NO. 3570
AN ORDINANCE of the City Council of the City
of Kent, Washington, amending Chapter 2.56 of the Kent
City Code, entitled "Diversity Advisory Board," to
increase the number of members from seven (7) to nine
(9).
WHEREAS, on or about August 4, 1998, the City Council adopted
Ordinance No. 3414, which established the Diversity Advisory Board to promote and
facilitate active involvement and participation by diverse cultures within the Kent
Community; and
WHEREAS, the City Council desires to increase the membership of the board
from seven (7) to nine (9) members in order to broaden the perspective and increase
the input on issues relating to diverse cultures being considered by the board; NOW
THEREFORE,
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF KENT, WASHINGTON,
DOES HEREBY ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
1 Diversity Advisory Board
— Increase to Nine Members
SECTION 1. - Amendment. Amending Section 2.56.050 of the Kent
City Code, entitled "Terms of Appointment," to read as follows:
Sec. 2.56.050. Terms of appointment. Members shall serve three (3) year
terms. The inifi&-terms shall be staggered so that the terms of wiethree (23)
members expire in anyig_ven year. Initial appointments of less than three (3) years
may be made to provide the desired staggering of terms as set forth he rein.appeinted4e

The board chair shall
be appointed annually by the board's members.
SECTION 2. - Severability. If any one or more section, subsections, or
sentences of this Ordinance are held to be unconstitutional or invalid, such decision
shall not affect the validity of the remaining portion of this ordinance and the same
shall remain in full force and effect.
SECTION 3. - Effective Date. This ordinance shall take effect and be
in force thirty (30) days from and after passage as provided by taW.
