HomeMy WebLinkAbout16097 y 7 ORDINANCE NO. 2 3 AN ORDINANCE of the City of Kent, Wash- ington repealing Kent City Ordinances 0.706 4 and any amendments thereto; repealing Ordinance No. 0.1067 and any amendments thereto and 5 repealing Ordinance No. 797 and any amendments thereto, and creating new ordinances for the g licensing of novelty or amusement devices; providing for a license fee therefor; pro- hibiting the transfer thereof; and providing a penalty for the violation of said new g ordinances. 9 THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF KENT, WASHINGTON, DO 10 ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Kent City Ordinance 0.706 as amended by 11 Kent City Ordinance 0.1067 and Kent City Ordinance 797 codified as 12 Kent Ordinances 6.8.04 through 6.8.28 and any amendments thereto 13 are hereby repealed in their entirety. Section 2. Non-paying Games --Licenses. Every person, 14 partnership, firm, association or corporation operating within the 15 City of Kent any novelty or amusement device or devices such as 16 skill ball, suffleboard, fiveball novelty, etc., from which no reward or prize whether in the form of money, free games or other - 17 wise can be secured by the player, shall procure from the City 18 Treasurer a license for each of such novelty or amusement 18 devices. Such license shall be issued by the City Treasurer upon payment by the applicant to the City Treasurer of the sum of 20 $10.00 per year payable in advance for each such novelty or 21 amusement device. Such licenses shall expire on the last day of 22 July of each year. Section 3. Transfer of License. No license is sued 23 under the terms of this Ordinance shall be transferable. 24 Section 4. No device which carries a Federal gambling 25 stamp shall be licensed or authorized under the provisions of this Ordinance or allowed to be operated within the City limits of the 26 City of Kent. 27 Section 5. Violation --Penalty. Any person, partner - 28 ship, firm, association or corporation violating any of the provisions of this ordinance shall be punishable by a fine of up 29 to Three Hundred Dollars ($300.00) or imprisonment in the City 30 jail for a period up to ninety (90) days or by both such fine and 31 imprisonment and any devices of such violator shall be subject to confiscation by the Judge of the Kent Department of the Aukeen 32 -1- I District Justice Court for destruction and any licenses issued to any such violator under the provisions of this Ordinance shall be 2 forthwith void. 3 Section 6.
