,2 AN ORDINANCE of the City of Kent,
Washington, adding a Section to Chapter
6.16 of the Codified Ordinances of the
4 City of Kent, requiring taxi companies
doing business in Kent, but not engaged
5 in the business of operating taxicabs
for hire within the Kent City Limits,
6 to secure a regular Kent City Business
license, rather than a for -hire license;
7 and, further, amending Kent City Ordinance
1257, Section 44, by eliminating sub -
8 section (d) therefrom, which required
annual payments for using a parking space
8 as a taxicab stand; and adding a Section
to Chapter 6.16 of the Codified Ordinances
10 of the City of Kent requiring taxi
companies doing business in the City of Kent
11 by operating taxi cabs for hire within the
Kent city limits to pay a taxi cab for hire
12 license fee of $12 per year.
13 THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF KENT, WASHINGTON, DO
14 ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Any taxi company, or individual, or corpora-
ls tion, doing business in the City of Kent, Washington, such as
16 operating a dispatching service, storing taxicabs, repair work on
17 taxicabs, etc., but not engaged in the business of operating taxi-
cabs for hire within the Kent City Limits, shall secure a regular
16 Kent City Business License, pursuant to Kent City Ordinance 0.913,
lg s 3 (codified 6.4.12), or any amendments thereto, and shall not be
20 required to secure a taxicab license, pursuant to the provisions
of Chapter 6.16 of the Codified Kent City Ordinances.
21 Section 2. Kent City Ordinance 1257 s44; August 18, 1964
22 (codified Kent Ordinance 6.16.172), which reads as follows:
23°6.16.172 TAXICAB STANDS. (a) Every person licensed
to engage in the business of operating one or more taxi -
24 cabs under the provisions of this chapter shall, upon
obtaining said license, designate in writing at that time
25 with the City Clerk, one parking space located on the city
streets where said person desires to have his taxicab stand
26 located.
27 "(b) If the City Clerk shall approve such location, he
shall cause any parking meters or restrictive signs thereon
28 to be removed and shall cause a sign to be placed at said
location designating it as a 'Taxicab Stand.'
28 "�,) If the City Clerk shall disapprove of such location,`
30 said person shall designate alternative locations until a
satisfactory and safe location can be agreed upon.
31 "(d) Each person shall reimburse the city the sum of
32 fifty dollars per year for the privilege of designating and
using a parking space as a taxicab stand as set forth in

I this chapter, said sum shall be paid at the time of
application for said space and annually thereafter on the
2 last day of December of each year and the sums paid
therefor shall be paid into the City of Kent parking
3 meter fund.
4 "(e) No person shall use a taxicab stand of another
except for the purpose of unloading passengers in
5 such a manner as to not interfere with the licensee of
said taxicab stand."

Section 3. Any taxi company or individual or corporation

doing
business in the City of Kent, Washington by engaging in the
20
business of operating taxicabs for hire within the Kent city limits
21
shall
secure a taxicab for hire license for the sum of $12.00 per
22 year.
Section 4. This Ordinance shall take effect and be in
23 force five (5) days from and after its passage, approval and
24 ,publication as provided by law.
