2 AN ORDINANCE of the City of Kcnt, Washing-
ton, defining an "abandoned motor vehicle",
3 and prescribing the manner for imlounding such
abandoned motor vehicles and disposing thereof.

THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF KENT, WASHING"ON, DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:

Section 1. ABANDONED MOTOR VEHICLES, DEFINITION. An abandoned motor
6
vehicle, for the purpose of this Ordinance, shall be deemed to be any motor
7
vehicle which is either inoperative or unoccupied, and which is not secured
8
against entry or occupation by casual persons having no right of entry or
9
occupation thereof.

Section 2. Under the provisions of RCW 46.52.110 of the Laws of the
11
State of Washington, the Chief of Police, upon making a determination that
12
a motor vehicle has been found abandoned on the public highways of the City
13
of Kent, or at any other place within the City Limits of the City of Kent,
14
shall cause said abandoned motor vehicle to be taken into the custody of the
15
King County Sheriff; and further the Kent Chief of Police shall in such event
16
cause personal notice that such vehicle has been found abandoned to be for -
17
warded to the registered and legal owner of such vehicle, if any record of
18
registered or legal owner thereof exists in this State. In the event there
19
appears to be a registered or legal ownership thereof in another state, the
20 Kent Chief of Police shall send notice thereof to the official having cog -
21
nizance of issuing legal or registered ownerships in such other state. If
22
at the expiration of twenty (20) days from the date of mailing such notices
23
by registered or certified mail, with return receipt requested, the vehicle
24
remains unclaimed and has not been reported as a stolen vehicle, then the
25
same may be disposed of, pursuant to RCW 46.52.110.

Section 3. This Ordinance shall take effect and be in force five (5)
