CITY OF KENT, WASHINGTON
ORDINANCE NO.
AN ORDINANCE authorizing and declaring
that certain described land inside the City of
Kent be condemned and purchased for the pur-
pose of obtaining the site for construction of
a new Kent City Hall.
WHEREAS, for the purpose of obtaining the site for the
construction of a new Kent City Hall, it is necessary for the City to acquire
land located within the City; and
WHEREAS, the City has been unable to acquire certain of that
necessary land by voluntary conveyance by the owners of the property involved;
NOW, THEREFORE,
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF KENT, WASHINGTON, DO
ORDAIN as follows:
Section 1 . For the purpose of obtaining the site for the con-
struction of a new Kent City Hall, there shall be condemned and purchased
inside the boundaries of the City all rights, title and interests in the following -
described property:
Lots 1 through 9, Block 13, Yesler's First
Addition to the Town of Kent, as recorded
in Volume 5, Plats, p. 64, Records of King
County, Washington.
Section 2. The cost of the condemnation and purchase of such
property shall be paid from the "City Hall Construction Fund" of the City, or
such other appropriate fund of the City as the City Council shall later determine.
Section 3. The officers and attorneys for the City are authorized
to take the necessary steps to commence and proceed with the eminent domain
proceedings in accordance with law and to make such necessary and appropriate
modifications in the legal description and conditions of the taking in keeping
with the purposes thereof, and the plans of the City.
Section 4. Nothing in this Ordinance shall be
construed as a waiver by the City of Iyent of its right to
decline to take and pay for said land after the amount of
damages has been ascertained and within the time allowed
by law.

thereof and APPROVED by the Mayor of the City of Kent,
