I AN ORDINANCE of the City cif Kent, Wash-

ington, regulating the installation o f
3electrical or communication facilities.
V4 THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF KENT, WASHINGTON, DO
5 ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
6 Section 1. All wires, cables, or any other electrical
7 and communication facilities installed to the use or occupancy
8 of any real property within the City Limits of Kent, Washington,
9 after effective date of this Ordinance, shall be underground.
10 A. Exclusions: Electric utility sub -stations, pad -
mounted transformers and switching facilities not
11 located on the public right-of-way.
12 B. Exclusions: Electric transmission systems of a
voltage of 50,000 volts or more.

C. Exclusions: Ornamental street lighting standards.

D. Exclusions: Telephone pedestals and other equiva-
15 lent communication facilities.
16 E. Exclusions: Police and fire sirens, or any similar
17 municipal equipment, including traffic control
equipment.
1s Section 2. Owners developing real property, and whose
19 intent it is to dedicate new streets to the City shall be re -
20
quired to install adequate underground street lighting systems
21
which conform to specifications set forth by the City Engineer.

A. Exclusion: Projects that have been approved prior to.
23 the passage of this Ordinance are exempt for a
period of six months.

Section 3. Effective date of Ordinance.

A. This Ordinance shall take effect and be in force five'
26 (5) days from and after its passage, approval and pub-
lication, as provided by law, for any new development
27 filed with the City Engineer.
