ORDINANCE NO.
AN ORDINANCE of the City of Kent, Washington,
4 decreasing the legal speed limit at all times
3 from, fifty ( 5.0) miles per hour to forty ( 40 )
miles per hour on a portion of the West Valley
4 Highway (SSE 2 -M -SR 181) as more fully des-
cribed in the body of this Ordinance and located
5 within the City Limits of the City of Kent.
6 THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF KENT, WASHINGTON, DO
7 ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
8 Section 1. Upon the effective date of this Ordinance,
9 the legal speed limit shall be reduced from fifty (50) miles
10 per hour to forty (40) miles per hour upon the West Valley
11 Highway (SSH 2 -M -SR 181) from South 180th Street, South to a
12 point that is N 110461E, 1115.77 ft, from the SE corner of
13 Section 35, Township 23 North, Range 4 E, W.M., all located
14 within the City Limits of the City of Kent, King County,
15 Washington.
16 Section 2. The City Traffic Engineer is herewith
17 directed to obtain from the Washington State Highway Commission,
18 said Commission's approval and ratification of the terms of this
19 Ordinance as required by RCW 47.24.020 of the Laws of the State
20 of Washington and to see that proper signs are posted along the
21 effected portion of said Highway, notifying the public of the
22 reduction of said legal speed limit.
23 Section 3. Violations of the terms of this Ordinance
24 shall be those as set forth in Kent City Ordinance 0.848 s80 --
25 1952 (codified as Chapter 8.34 of the Ordinances of the City.
26 of Kent, Washington.)
27 Section 4. Any Ordinances of the City of Kent in
28 conflict with the provisions of this Ordinance are hereby re -
29 pealed.
30 Section 5. This Ordinance shall take effect and be
31 in force from and after its passage, approval and publication
32 as provided by law* and once a copy of the communication

approving the terms hereof from the Washington State Highway
Commission is filed herewith in the Office of the Kent City
Clerk, and once appropriate speed limit signs are posted as
called for in the body of this Ordinance.
