HomeMy WebLinkAbout13541 2 !' f i, 3 i 4 is i? 5 i+ ii 6 AS FOLLOWS: P ORDINANCE NO. ! 43�'�/ AN ORDINANCE of the City of Kent, Washington, declaring an emergency, making appropriations and providing for the issuance of warrants for and payment of: (1) Purchase of three used police motorcycles and radios and equipment therefor, and (2) Salary, Social Security, Medical Aid, and Industrial Insurance Benefits for three new police patrolman on the staff of the Kent Police Department. THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF KENT, WASHINGTO, DO ORDAIN i; Section 1. That in order to pay for three used police type 8 motorcycles, and radios and equipment therefor, for the Police Department j 9 ? of the City of Kent; and further, in order to meet salary, Social Security, 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 22 23 24 25 26 27 28 29 30 31 32 Medical Aid, and Industrial Insurance requirements and expenses for three new police patrolman positions on the staff of the Kent Police Department for the balance of fiscal year 1966, It is necessary to appropriate funds therefor at this time, which have not been budgeted for in the Budget of the City of Kent for fiscal year 1966. Section 2. That an emergency exists due to the situation set forth In Section I of this Ordinance, which could not have reasonably been foreseen at the time of the preparation of the Budget for the year 1966; and, therefore, there is at this time, as necessary to sustain the proper operation! and efficiency of the Kent Police Department for the balance of fiscal year i 1966 emergency appropriations herewith made of $2,037.75 for three used i police type motorcycles, $2,624.88 for three motorcycle radios for said I police motorcycles, $921.64 to purchase miscellaneous equipment to equip said motorcycles, and $9,252.00 for salary, $408.621for Social Security i benefits, $18.90 for Medical Aid benefits, $60.48, Industrial Insurance premiums to meet said emergency through December 31, 1966, $300,00, uniform allowances for three (3) men, $566.95, equipment allowance for three (3) men; i and that, if necessary, emergency warrants shall be issued for said amounts or,, for such portion thereof as shall be needed, such emergency warrants to bear interest at the rate of six per cent per annum from the date of Issuance E until paid. This Ordinance shall not be voted on until at least one (I) week has elapsed after Its introduction, and for passage shall requirei i 3 the vote of one more than the majority of all members of the Kent City Council i I 4 !� and be approved by the Mayor. i 5 6 7 8 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 22 23 24 25 26 27 28 29 30 31 32 Section 4. Any tax payer may appear at the meeting at which this emergency Ordinance is voted upon and be heard, for or against the adoption thereof. Section 5. This Ordinance shall be voted upon at the regular meeting of the Kent City Council in the Council Chambers of the Kent City Hall at 8:00 P.M. O'clock, Monday, June 6, 1966, and a copy of this Ordinance shall be published in the official City newspaper once prior to said date as notice of said meeting and proposed action. Section 6.
