ORDINANCE N0. 1225
An Ordinance relating to planning and
zoning for land use and development in the City
of Kent and zoning a portion of certain land
annexed by the City of Kent by Ordinance No. 1223.
WHEREAS, certain land was annexed by the City of Kent by
Ordinance No. 1223 of the City, entitled "An Ordinance of the. City
of Kent annexing to said City certain land contiguous thereto,"
passed by the City Council on the 18th day of November, 19631,
and approved by the Mayor on the 19th day of November, 1963; and
WHEREAS, the effective date of the annexation made by
Ordinance No. 1223 and the effective date of the Ordinance No.
1223 itself was the 23rd day of November, 19635 and
WHEREAS, said annexation Ordinance was passed and said
annexation became effective after the effective date of Ordinance
No. 1071 of the City of Kent, known as the "Zoning Ordinance";and
WHEREAS, as required by Section 10.16.04 of Ordinance N .
1071, the Planning Commission of the City of Kent conducted a
study and made report to the City Council of the City of Kent,
recommending that certain of the land annexed by said Ordinance
No. 1223 be zoned R-3 (Multiple Dwelling); and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Kent did on
the 16th day of Decemb er, 1963, hold a public hearing upon said
recommendations insofar as they related to the land to be annexed
and said public hearing being held after proper public notice
thereof, and
WHEREAS, after said public hearing the City Council of
the City of Kent ascertained that a portion of said lands should
be zoned C-3 (General Commercial) and another portion of said
lands should be zoned. R-3 (Multiple Dwelling),
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Kent do
ordain as follows:
Section 1. That the following described land, annexed

to the City of Kent by the terms of Ordinance No. 1223 of the City
of Kent, and situated in said City in the County of King, State of
Washington, and more partuclarly described as follows, to -wit:
East 270 feet of the following described real
property, Beginning at the NE corner of the SW 1/4
of the SW 1/4 .of Section 17, Township 22 N. Range
5 E., W.M., thence West along the North line of said
SW 1/4 to the SW corner of the SE 1/4 of the NW 1/4
of the SW 1/4 of Section 17, Township 22 N, Range
5 E., W.M.; thence Northerly along the West line of
said SE 1/4, a distance of 198.23 feet; thence
Easterly to the East line of said SE 1/4, to a point
which is 198.04 feet North of the Point of beginning;
thence South along the said East line, 198.04 feet
to the point of beginning.
be, and it is hereby zoned "C-3 (Gere<al Commercial)."
Section 2. That the following described land, annexed
to the City of Kent by the terms of Ordinance No. 1223 of the
City of Kent, and situated in said City in the County of King,
State of Washington, and more particular described as follows,
to -wit:
Beginning at the NE corner of the SW 1/4 of the
SW 1/4 of Section 17, Township 22 N, Range 5 E.,
W.M., thence West along the North line of said
SW 1/4 to the SW corner of the SE 1/4 of the NW 1/4
of the SW 1/4 of Section 17, Township 22 N, Range
5 E., W.M.; thence Northerly along the West line of
said SE 1/4, a distance of 198.23 feet; thence
Easterly to the East linecf said SE 1/4, to a point
which is 198.04 feet North of the point of.beginning;
thence South along the said East line, 198.04 feet
to the point of beginnings less_ the East 270 feet
thereof,
be, and it is hereby zoned "R-3 (Multiple Dwelling)."
Section 3. That the City Engineer of the City of Kent,
be and he is hereby authorized and directed to indicate upon the
comprehensive planning map of the City of Kent, or on an addendum
thereto, the zoning of said property as provided for in Section
1 and Section 2 of this Ordinance.
Section 4. That upon said amendment being shown on the
comprehensive planning map of the City of Kent, or on an addendum
thereto, a copy of said map or addendum be filed with the County
Auditor of King County, Washington, and the City Clerk of the Cit
