ORDINANCE NO.
AN ORDINANCE establishing legal holidays
to be recognized in each year for em-
ployees of the City of Kent without loss
of pay.
The City Council of the City of Kent do ordain
as follows:
Section 1. ESTABLISHING LEGAL HOLIDAYS: It is
hereby declared to be the policy of the City that the
following be established and recognized as legal holidays
in each year for employees of the City of Kent, State of
Washington, without loss of pay.
January 1st Memorial Day October 12th
February 12th July 4th November 11th
February 22nd Labor Day December 25th
together with a day on which any general election is held
throughout the State; and any day designated by public
proclamation of the Chief Executive of the State of Wash-
ington as a legal holiday, or as a day of Thanksgiving.
Section 2. Whenever any legal holiday, other
than Sunday, falls upon a Sunday, the following Monday
shall be deemed the legal holiday; likewise, when any such
holiday falls upon a Saturday, the preceding Friday shall
be deemed a holiday; provided, however, that employees of
the City Police and Fire Departments, when compelled by the
exigencies of their duties, to work on a legal holiday,
as set forth herein, and as set forth in Section 1 of this
Ordinance, said employees shall be given compensatory time
off therefor, as determined by their respective department

Section 3. This Ordinance shall be in full
force and effect five (5) days from and after its passage,
