O I AN ORDINANCE establishing vacations to be recognized in each year for employees of the City of Kent without loss of pay 3 The City Council of the City of Kent do ordain as 4 follows: 5 Section 1. VACATIONS: Every officer or employee 6 of the City shall, after the first seven (7) months of employ- 7 ment receive and be entitled to one (1) day per month of va- 8 cation credit so that after the first full year of employ- 9 ment with the City, such officer or employee shall have a 10 total of five (5) working days of vacation credit; and every 11 such officer and employee, after such first year's employ- 12 ment, shall receive and be entitled to a credit equal to 13 eighty-three one hundreds (.83) day per month of consecutive 14 employment, thus providing total vacation credits of ten 15 (10) working days for each year; after ten (10) years of 16 continuous employment with the City of Kent, such monthly 17 credit shall be increased to one and one-quarter (1-1/4) 18 working days per month. Above vacation credits shall not 19 be applicable to members of the Fire Department and Police 20 Department, who are covered by provisions promulgated by 21 the Civil Service Commission. 22 When any officer or employee shall not take a 23 vaggtion to which he is entitled in any one calendar year, 24 as above specified, by reason of the urgent need of his con- 25 tinuous service or because of seasonal demands therefor, 26 such officer or employee, with the approval of the head 27 of his department or division, may be allowed such vaca- 28 tion during the succeeding calendar year, but in no event 29 shall any vacation not taken in the year when due, be 30 accumulated beyond the next succeeding calendar year. Section 2. This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect five (5) days from and after its passage, approval and legal publication, or printing and posting, as required by R.C.W. 35.24.220 of the Laws of the State of Washington.
