An Ordinance relating to planning and
zoning for land use and development in
the City of Kent, and zoning a portion
of certain land annexed by the City by
Ordinance No. 1161, "C-3 (General Commer-
cial)" and "R-3 (Multiple Dwelling)".
WHEREAS, certain land was annexed by the City of Kent by
Ordinance No. 1161 of the City, entitled "An Ordinance of the
City of Kent annexing to said City certain lands contiguous
thereto", passed by the City Council on the 19th day of November,
1962, and approved by the Mayor on the 20th day of November,
1962; and
WHEREAS,; the effective date of the annexation made by
Ordinance No. 1161 and the effective date of the Ordinance No.
1161 itself was the 1st day of December, 1962; and
WHEREAS, said annexation ordinance was passed and said
annexation became effective after the effective date of Ordinance
No. 1071 of the City of Kent, known as the "Zoning Ordinance";
and
WHEREAS, as required by Section 10.16.04 of Ordinance No.
1071, the Planning Commission of the City of Kent conducted a
study and made report to the City Council of the City of Kent
recommending that ceetain of the lands annexed by said Ordinance
No. 1161 be zoned C-3 (General Commercial) and certain of the
lands annexed by said ordinance be zoned R-3 (Multiple Dwelling);
and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Kent did upon the
18th day of March, 1963, hold a public hearing upon said recommen-
dations insofar as they related to a portion of the lands annexed,
said public hearing being held after proper public notice thereof,
now, therefore,
The City Council of the City of Kent do ordain as follows:
Section 1. That the following described land annexed to
the City of Kent by the terms of Ordinance No. 1161 of said City,

and situated in said city in the County of King, State of
Washington, and particularly described as follows, to -wit:
The east 270 feet of the east half of the southwest
quarter of the southwest quart6rvof the southwest
quarter of Section 1'(, Township 22 north, Range 5 East,
W.M., be and it is hereby zoned C-3 (General Commercial)"
Section 2. That the following described land annexed to
the City of Kent by the terms of Ordinance No. 1161 of said
City, and situated in said city in the County of King, State of
Washington, and more particula ry described as follows, to -wit:
The east half of the southwest quarter of the southwest quart r
of Sec. 17, township 22 north, Range 5 East, W.M., except
the east 270 feet thereof,
be and it is hereby zoned "R -M Multiple Dwelling)"
Section 3. That the City Engineer of the City of Kent be
and he is hereby authorized and directed to indicate upon the
Comprehensive Planning Map of the City of Kent, or on an addendum
thereto, the.zoning of said property as provided for in Sections
1 and 2 of this Ordinance.
Section 4. That upon said amendment being shown on the Com-
prehensive Planning Map of the City of Kent, or on an addendum
thereto, a copy of said map or addendum be filed with the County
Auditor of King County, Washington, and the City Clerk of the Ci
of Kent be and he is hereby authorized and directed to record
this ordinance with the County Auditor of King County.
Section 5. This ordinance shall take effect and be in force
five (5) days from and after its passage, approval and publicati
as by law provided. '
