ORDINANCE NO. &7
An O- dinance of the City of Kent providing
regulations governing the construction, alter-
ation, equipment or removal of buildings or
structures; adopting the National Building
Code 1955, together with 1957 amendments
thereto, and adopting 1(-;)9 Revised Addition
of Fire Resistance Ratings; and repealing
Ordinance No. 879 of the City of Kent, as
amended by Ordinande No. 880 of the City of
Kent.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF KENT DO ORDAIN as follows:
Section 1. Adoption of National Building Code 1955 Edition,
together with 1957 Amendments thereto, and 1959 Revised Edition
of Fire Resistance Ratings. That there is hereby adopted by the
City of Kent, for the purpose of establishing rules and regulations
for the construction, alteration, equipment or removal of buildings
or structures, that certain code known as "National Building Code,
1955 Edition, Together with the 1957 Amendments Thereto, an
, and the whole thereof, including appendicel
thereto, and the 1959 Revised Edition of Fire Resistance Ratings,
and the whole thereof, save and except such portions of said code
as are hereinafter in this ordinance deleted, modified or amended,
of which National Building Code 19>� Edition and 1959 Revised

Section 2. Saving Clause. Nothing in this ordinance, nor in
he code hereby adopted, nor in the Fire Resistance Ratings hereby
dopted, shall be construed to affect any suit or proceedings now
ending in any court, or any rights acquired or liability incurred,
or any cause or causes of action accrued or existing, under any
ct or ordinance replaced hereby. Nor shall any right or remedy of
any character be lost, impaired or affected by this Ordinance.
Section 3. Validity. if any section, subsection, sentence,
clause, phrase, or portion of this code, or of the Fire Resistance
Ratings, is for any reason held to be invalid or unconstitutional
by the decision of any court of competent jurisdiction, such decis-
ion shall not affect the validity of the remaining portions of this)
code.
Section 4. Amendments and Deletions Made in Said Code. The said
National Building Code, 1955 Edition, together with 195'( amendments
thereto, is amended and changed by deletions in the following
respects:
(a) Appendices K, 0, and P, of said National Building Code
are hereby deleted.
(b) Subparagraph (d) of Section 919.7 of Appendix N of said
Code is hereby deleted.
Section Repeal. That Ordinance No. 87 of the City of Kent,
entitled "An Ordinance of the City of Kent providing for fire
limits and regulations governing the construction, alteration,
equipment, or removal of buildings or structures; and repealing all
ordinances or parts of ordinances conflicting or inconsistent
rewith, particularly ordinances numbered 185, 263, 467, 600,
01, 002, 670, and Section 1 of Ordinance No. 596," passed on the
7th day of May, 1954, and approved on the 18th day of May, 1954,
nd Ordinance No. 880 of the City of Kent, entitled "An Ordinance

uildings or structures", passed the 7th day of June, 1954, and

Section 6. This ordinance shall take effect and be in force
