R� AN ORDINANCE of the City of Kent, Washington, amending Section 10 of Ordinance ��. 1933 setting new collection charges for garbage and refuse in the City of Kent. THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF KENT, WASHINGTON, DO HEREBY ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Section 10 of Ordinance 1933 which reads as follows: "Section 10. GARBAGE COLLECTION CHARGES - RATE 'SCHEDULE. The following schedule is adopted as a basis of classification and as a schedule of charges to be paid to and collected by the City for services rendered by the City for the collection and removal of garbage, refuse and swill from residences, business firms and commercial enterprises. Collection of garbage, refuse and swill from residential dwellings shall be made once a week. (a) For 'garbage cans' and/or 'garbage units' as herein defined. Place not more than twenty-five (25) feet from the point of pick-up. Said point of pick-up shall be measured from a public right-of-way, either street or alley that is open to public use all times of the year: 1 can per week $ 2.30 per month 2 cans per week 2.60 per month Each Additional Can .50 per month (b) For 'garbage cans' and/or 'garbage units' as herein defined. Placed more than twenty-five (25) feet but less than seventy-five (75) feet from point of pick-up. Said point of pick- up shall be measured from a public right-of-way, either street or alley that is open to public use all times of the year: 1 can per week $ 2.60 per month 2 cans per week 2.85 per month Each Additional Can .60 per month (c) For 'garbage cans' and/or 'garbage units' as herein defined, placed more than seventy-five (75) feet from the point of pick-up. Said point of pick-up shall be measured from a public right-of-way, either street or alley that is open to public use all times of the year: 1 can per week $ 2.85 per month 2 cans per week 3.20 per month Each Additional Can .75 per month (d) Collection of garbage, refuse and swill from busi- ness firms, commercial and industrial firms shall be available for up to daily pick-up Monday through Friday of each week. The contractor will negotiate with each such customer as to the number of said pick-ups per week. For the first 20 garbage cans or garbage units as herein defined: $ .50 per can per mo. Any garbage cans or garbage units as herein defined in excess of 20 per month $ .40 per can per mo. Provided, however, that the minimum monthly charge for any of the above classes of users shall be three dollars ($3.00) per month. (e) The rate for handling of detachable containers for use by commercial, industrial, and multiple dwelling establish- ments shall be as follows: 1 yd. container $2.75 per pickup 1-1/2 yd. container 3.75 per pickup 2 yd. container 4.50 per pickup 20 yd. container 1.35 per yd. per 30 yd. container 40 yd. container pickup 1.25 per yd. per pickup 1.10 per yd. per pickup Compactor per yd. plus dump fee 1.75 (f) The rental rate to be paid the contractor for fur- nishing detachable containers shall be as follows: 1 yd. container $3.00 per month 1 1/2 yd. container 4.50 per month 2 yd. container 6.00 per month 20 yd. container 24.00 per month 30 yd. container 35.00 per month 40 yd. container 42.50 per month The customer may furnish his own detachable container providing said container is compatible with the contractor's equipment for collection. The minimum pick-up schedule for all accounts except drop boxes is once each week. (g) The rate for handling temporary contractor drop boxes shall be as follows: Installation $10.00 Rental per day 2.00 Dumping charge by container size: 20 yard $30.00 30 yard 40.00 40 yard 50.00." - 2 - is hereby amended to read as follows: "Section 10. RATES FOR COLLECTION AND DISPOSAL OF GAR- BAGE AND REFUSE. A. Collection of garbage and refuse from residen- tial dwellings shall be made once a week. For 'garbage cans' and/ or 'garbage units' as defined in Ordinance 1639, placed not more than twenty-five (25) feet from the point of pickup. Said point of pickup shall be measured from a public right-of-way (not in- cluding a private driveway), either street or alley that is open to public use all times of the year: 1 can per week $ 3.39 per mo. 2 cans per week 4.16 per mo. Each additional can 1.28 per m. B. For 'garbage cans' and/or 'garbage units' as de- fined in Ordinance 1933, placed more than twenty-five (25) feet, but less than seventy-five (75) feet from point of pickup. Said (point of pickup shall be measured from a public right-of-way, (not including a private driveway), either street or alley that is open to public use all times of the year: 1 can per week $ 4.04 per m. 2 cans per week 5.31 per mo. Each additional can 1.54 per mo. C. For 'garbage cans' and/or 'garbage units' as de- fined in Ordinance 1933, that are placed more than seventy-five (75) feet from point of pickup. Said point of pickup shall be measured from a public right-of-way (not including a private drive• way), either street or alley that is open to public use at all times of the year: 1 can per week $ 4.91 per mo. 2 cans per week 6.29 per mo. Each additional can 1.65 per mo. D. Extra units. 1.63 per pickup E. Collection of garbage and refuse from business firms, commercial enterprises including trailer courts, and indus- trial firms shall be available for up to daily pickup Monday through Friday of each week. The City will advise the contractor as to the actual number of said pickups per week: $ .89 per can per pickup Minimum monthly charge $5.00 - 3 - F. The minimum monthly charge for any of the above classes of users shall be $5.00 per month. G. The rate for handling detachable rear load con- tainers for use by commercial, industrial and multiple dwelling establishments shall be as follows: Pickup once a week minimum: 1 yard container $ 4.11 per pickup 1 1/2 yard container 5.42 per pickup 2 yard container 7.00 per pickup 4 yard container 12.22 per pickup 6 year container 17.78 per pickup I Pickup twice monthly minimum: 20 yard drop box 35.00 + actual Pickup once a week minimum: 30 yard drop box 37.22 + actual 40 yard drop box 39.44 + actual H. The rental rate to be paid the contractor for furnishing detachable rear load containers shall be as follows: 1 yard container $ 3.00 per month 1 1/2 yard container 3.75 per month 2 yard container 5.00 per month 4 yard container 7.50 per month 6 yard container 10.00 per month ill 20 yard drop box 28.00 per month 30 yard drop box 32.00 per month 40 yard drop box 40.00 per month The customer may furnish his own detachable container providing said container is compatible with the con- tractor's equipment for collection. I. The rate for handling temporary contractor drop boxes shall be as follows: Installation $10.00 Rental per day 2.00 (after 3 days) Dumping charge by container size (minimum pick- up twice per month): 20 yard $44.44 + actual dump fee 30 yard 55.56 + actual dump fee - 4 - J. The maximum load per compactor or drop box is 6 tons with a charge of $25.00 for each ton or portion thereof in excess of the minimum. K. Compactor 10-29 yards 30-40 Digging out compactor or drop box Service $38.89 + actual dump fee per pickup 44.44 + actual dump fee per pickup 25.00 per occurrence." Section 2. This Ordinance shall take effect and be in force five (5) days from and after its passage, approval and publication as provided by law.
