U) 4 AN ORDINANCE of the City of Kent, Washington, relating to pet license fees, establishing reduced rates for City resi- dents 65 years of age or older, and amend- ing Ordinance 1951 of the City of Kent. THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF KENT, WASHINGTON, DO HEREBY ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Sub -section 3(d) of Ordinance 1321, a- mended by Ordinance 1850 and Ordinance 1951 and which reads as follows: "(d) The annual license fee for each dog shall be eight (8) dollars, provided that when proof is submitted that such dog has been spayed or neutered the fee shall be four (4) dollars. The annual license fee for each cat shall be four (4) dollars, pro vided that when proof is submitted that such cat has been spayed or neutered the fee shall be two (2) dollars. No proration of a license fee for a portion of the calendar year shall be made." is hereby amended to read as follows: "(d) The annual license fee for each dog shall be eight (8) dollars, provided that when proof is submitted that such dog has been spayed or neutered the fee shall be four (4) dollars. The annual license fee for each cat shall be four (4) dollars, pro- vided that when proof is submitted that such cat has been spayed or neutered the fee shall be two (2) dollars, provided, however, that City of Kent residents 65 years of age or over shall be en- titled to purchase a special permanent license for the lifetime of cats or dogs for which they are the registered owners when said animals are maintained at said owners address. Eligible residents may purchase the special permanent animal licenses at a cost of eight (8) dollars per licensed dog and four (4) dollars per li- censed cat and they shall not be required to annually purchase a new license for the lifetime of such licensed animal, provided that, no person shall be granted more than three permanent animal licenses for any combination of three cats and dogs for which they are the registered owner. No proration of a license fee for a portion of a calendar year shall be made." Section 2. This Ordinance shall have retroactive ef- fect and following its passage, approval and publication as pro- vided by law, shall be deemed to have become effective January 1, 1977. ISABEL HOGANr.
