HomeMy WebLinkAbout1920ORDINANCE NO. 0 AN ORDINANCE of the City of Kent, Wash- ington, recognizing the existence of the Kent Civil Service Commission; providing for the substantial accomplishment of RCW 41.08 as it relates to all full-time permanent employees of the Kent Fire Department; providing for the adoption of rules and regulations in compliance with RCW 41.08; and repealing Ordinance 1280 and 1411 of the City of Kent. THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF KENT, WASHINGTON, DO HEREBY ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. The past, present and ongoing existence of the Kent Civil Service Commission is hereby recognized. The Commission shall be composed of three (3) members who shall be appointed by the Mayor, and who shall serve without compensation. The Commissioners shall have the qualifications prescribed by RCW 41.08.030. Section 2. Pursuant to the authority conferred by Chapter 41.08 of the RCW, the Kent Civil Service Commission shall make such rules and regulations as will substantially accomplish the objectives established by State law relative to selection, appointment and employment in the Kent Fire Department, including the Chief. Section 3. The Commission shall adopt rules and regu- lations, perform duties and exercise powers in compliance with Chapter 41.08 of the Revised Code of Washington. Section 4. Ordinances 1280 and 1411 of the City of Kent are hereby repealed. Section 5. This Ordinance shall take effect and be in force five (5) days from and after its passage, approval and publication, as provided by law.
