AN ORDINANCE of the City of Kent, �^?ash-
ington, adopting by reference certain sections
of that Code known as "Uniform Plumbing Code -
1970 Edition"; making certain changes and amend-
ments thereto; and providing for the filing of
three copies thereof with the Kent City Clerk.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF KENT, WASHINGTON, DO
ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. There is adopted upon the effective date
of this Ordinance and upon the filing of three copies of the
following described Code in the office of the Kent City Clerk,
that certain Code known as the Uniform Plumbing Code - 1970
Edition, with deletions, amendments:; and changes as follows:
Section 2. Section 1.10 (A) which reads as follows:
"No permit shall be issued to any person
to do or cause to be' -done any work regulated
by this code, except,to a person holding a
valid unexpired and'unrevoked Plumbing Con-
tractor's Certificate of Qualification or
Registration as required by Section 2.3,
except when and as otherwise hereinafter
provided in this section."
is hereby amended to read as follows: Section 1.10 (A):
"No permit shall be issued to any person
to do or cause to be done any work reg-
ulated by this code, except to a person
holding a Journeyman or Master Plumber's
Registration Card, except when and as other-
wise hereinafter provided in this section."
Section 3. Part Two, Section 2.1 through 2.11 inclu-
sive are hereby deleted from the Code as adopted.
Section 4. Section 117, S(e), Plumbing System, which
reads as follows:
"PLUMBING SYSTEM: The plumbing system
means and includes all potable water
supply and distribution pipes, all plumb-
ing fixtures and traps, all drainage and
vent pipe and all building drains, includ-
ing their respective joints and connections,
devices, receptables and appurtenances
within the property lines of the premises
and shall include potable water piping,

potable water treating or using equipment,
fuel gas piping, water heaters and vents
for same."
is hereby amended to read as follows:
"PLUMBING SYSTEM: The plumbing system means
and includes all potable water supply and
distribution pipes, all plumbing fixtures
and traps, all drainage and vent pipe and
all building drains, including their res-
pective joints and connections, devices,
receptables and appurtenances within the
property lines of the premises and shall
include potable water piping, potable water
treating or using equipment, fuel gas piping,
water heaters and vents for same. EXCEPT -
vents for water heaters and fuel gas piping
for any appliance may also be classified
as a portion of a mechanical installation
if regulated by code and if so, shall be
excluded from the provisions of this code."
Section 5. Any ordinances previously enacted by the
City Council inconsistent with the provisions of this Ordinance
are hereby repealed.
Section 6. This Ordinance shall take effect and be in
force five (5) days from and after its passage, approval and
publication as provided by law.
