AN ORDINANCE of the City of Kent, Wash-
ington, ratifying and acknowledging the past
and present existence of the Kent Police De-
partment and establishing offices, positions,
and ranks of all City of Kent law enforcement
officers.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF KENT, WASHINGTON, DO
ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. The past, present and future existence of
the Kent Police Department is herewith acknowledged and ratified.
Section 2. The term, "Law Enforcement Officer", and
"City Police Officer" shall cover such regular, full-time personnel
of the Kent Police Department who have been appointed to offices,
positions or ranks of the Kent Police Department which are here-
with expressly created, to --wit:
Chief of Police
Assistant Chief of Police
Captain
Lieutenant
Sergeant
Patrolman
Section 3. Upon the passage, approval and publication
of this ordinance, the Kent Chief of Police shall cause a certified
copy thereof to be mailed to:
Mr. Lloyd G. Baker, Director
State of Washington Public
Employees Retirement System
201 General Administration Bldg.
P. 0. Box 918
Olympia, Washington 98501
along with a correct list of the names of each Kent City Police
Officer filling one of the Kent Law Enforcement positions as
created in Section 2. of this ordinance to comply with the pro-
visions of Chapter 41.26 of the Revised Code of Washington.

Section 4P. This ordinance shall take effect and be
in force five days from and after its passage, approval and
publication as provided by law.
