ORDINANCE NO.j(f/LP_7_
AN ORDINANCE of the City of Kent, Wash-
ington, relating to the hiring of replacement
police officers and providing for the allocation
of funds from the unbudgeted, unexpended balance
in the current expense fund to cover the cost of
said replacements.
WHEREAS, two officers of the City of Kent Police Depart-
ment have taken disability leave and are no longer available for
duty with the Department; and
WHEREAS, under the provisions of the Law Enforcement
Officers and Fire-fighters Pension Laws of the State of Washing-
ton, as most recently amended by Chapter 6. of the 1970 Extra-
ordinary Session of the Washington State Legislature, the City
is required to pay the full salary of said officers for a period
of six months regardless of their unavailability for duty with
the Department; and
WHEREAS, it is vital to the preservation of order in
and for the protection of the citizens of the City of Kent that
said officers on disability leave be replaced.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF KENT, WASHINGTON, DO
ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. The Chief of the Police Department of the
City of Kent is authorized and directed to secure replacements
for the two officers on disability leave from the Department.
Section 2. There is hereby appropriated from the
unbudgeted, unexpended balance in the current expense fund the
sum of $7,900.00 to hire said replacement officers.
Section 3. This Ordinance shall take effect and be in
force five (5) days from and after its passage, approval and
publication as provided by law.
