ORDINANCE NO.
AN ORDINANCE of the City of Kent,
Washington relating to the salary and
position of the Mayor of the City of
Kent and repealing Ordinances 1605 and
1869.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF KENT,WASHINGTON, DO
HEREBY ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:

Section 1. Effective on the first day of January,
1975 the base salary of the Mayor of the City of Kent, Washington
shall be $700.00 per month, said compensation reflecting the fact
that the position of Mayor of the City of Kent is not considered
to be a full time position.
Section 2. In addition to the base salary the Mayor
shall be entitled to compensation for attendance at meetings out-
side the City of Kent, other than those of a ceremonial nature,
which the Mayor attends as the representative or delegate of the
City of Kent.
Section 3. The compensation to which the Mayor shall
be entitled shall not exceed twenty-five (25) dollars per meeting,'i
nor shall payment be authorized for more than seventy-two (72)
such meetings in any one calendar year.
Section 4. In the event that the Mayor receives
compensation from any other governmental unit or agency for at-
tendance at such meetings as the City of Kent representative, no
compensation shall be paid by the City for such meeting, nor shall'
such meetings be considered or counted as part of the maximum of
72 meetings for which payment is authorized.
Section 5. Ordinance 1605 and 1869 of the City of
Kent be and the same hereby are repealed in their entirety.
Section 6. This Ordinance shall take effect and be
in force five (5) days after its passage, approval and publication
as provided by law.

MAYOR'S SALARY
Ordinance 1977, passed 7-19-76, clarifys that the Mayor's
salary has been $700 per month since the 1975 budget.
The ordinance also adds $25 per meeting attended with a
limit of 72 meetings per year. No other ordinance regarding
the Mayor's salary.
Changes to the Mayor's salary are included in the budget.
1979 - $ 900 + meetings
1980 - $1000 + meetings
1983 - Same
1984 - $1200 + meetings
No changes since the 1984 budget.
