AN ORDINANCE of the City of Kent,
Washington, relating to public health and
sanitation; amending Section 7.08.020 (Ordinance
No. 2365) Kent City Code to permit holders of
existing garbage hauling permits to extend such
permits under certain conditions, establishing
fees for such permits.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF KENT, WASHINGTON, DO
HEREBY ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Section 7.08.020 Kent City Code (Ordinance
No. 2365) is amended as follows:
17.08.020. Garbage Collection by Contract.
A. Garbage collections shall be made by the City of Kent
or by a private contractor, pursuant to the awarding of a contract
by the City Council.
B. It shall be unlawful for any person, other than those
duly authorized by the City Council, to haul garbage through the
streets of the City or to dump garbage; PROVIDED, that those
commercial and industrial business establishments having permits
to haul their own garbage and refuse may continue to haul such
garbage, by annual permit ((,as joag astheyhave a eurFent
peEmit-)). Renewel permits shall be issued by the City Clerk ((at

annual permit fee The annual permit fee shall be:
Permit holders hauling
less than 150 tons of
garbage per month $100
Permit holders hauling
greater than 150 tons of
garbage per month $7500

Any permit holder, as provided for in this subsection, shall haul
his garbage at least once each week for public health reasons.
C. This section does not apply to the occasional hauling
by residential customers of refuse to an approved site; PROVIDED
the minimum level of garbage service is paid for by the
residential customer.
Section 2. The privilege granted to those commercial and
industrial businesses to continue to haul garbage and refuse by
permit as provided in Section 1, above, shall vest no rights in
such a permit or otherwise gaurantee the continued availability of
such a permit.
Section 3. This ordinance shall take effect and be in
force five (5) days from and after its passage, approval and
publication as provided by law.
