AN ORDINANCE relating to communication
facilities; adding a new Section 7.10.14 to
Chapter 7.10 Kent City Code to require cable
television conduits to be laid underground at
the same time as sewer or water utilities are
installed to serve any residential development
or building site.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF KENT, WASHINGTON, DO
HEREBY ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. A new Section 7.10.14 is added to the Kent
City Code as follows:
"7.10.14. CABLE TELEVISION CONDUIT.
(1) When a developer and/or landowner extends sewer or
water utility mains to serve a residential development or building
site, Cable Television conduits shall be laid underground at the
same time as those other utilities. This will include only the
conduits needed for street crossings and for mainline distribution
of cable TV throughout the development. All conduits ends shall
be brought to each individual property line elbowed to the final
ground elevation, and capped.
(2) The developer and/or landowner shall absorb the cost
required to install such cable TV conduit to each individual
property line, this includes conduit, trenching and easements.
(3) This section will preclude the necessity for
disturbing streets, sidewalks and alleyways when CATV service
connections are extended to serve any residential development or
building site.
(4) All conduit shall be installed according to CATV
specifications, and with the approval of the Director of Public
Works or his designee."
Section 2. This ordinance shall take effect and be in
full force five (5) days after it publication as required by law.
