HomeMy WebLinkAbout2199Ordinance No. 2199 (Amending or Repealing Ordinances) CFN=205 - Uniform Building Codes Passed - 1/21/1980 Adopting by reference Uniform Building Code 1979 Edition and Repealing Ordinance 2022 Repealed by Ord. 3415 G't ORDINANCE NO. - J AN ORDINANCE of the City of Kent, Washington, adopting by reference that certain code known as Uniform Building Code - 1979 Edition, together with certain additions thereto; adopting specified chapters of the appendix to said code; and providing for the filing of three copies of the code with the Kent City Clerk, and repealing Ordinance 2022. THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF KENT, WASHINGTON, DO HEREBY ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. There is adopted upon the effective date of this Ordinance and upon the filing of three copies thereof with the Kent City Clerk, that certain code known as Uniform Building Code - 1979 Edition, with the following additions: a, Section 301 (a) 1. shall be amended to add the following: PERFOPMANCE BONDS: Before any demolition permit is issued, the applicant or his agent shall post a cash bond with the City Treasurer in the amount of $200.00, which will be refundable upon final inspection being approved of the permit. b. There is hereby added to Chapter 13 "Require- ments for Group R, Division 1 Occupancies" a new section to be designated as Section 1314 and which shall read as follows: "It is hereby established that the paved vehicular access (driveway) to any R-1 Occupancy (as defined in the Uniform Building Code) shall not exceed a slope of loo from the property line to the require off-street stall." EXCEPTIONS: The Building Official may allow the driveway to exceed 10% (but not to exceed 150) when requested in writing from both the owner and the contractor, providing that in the opinion of the Building Official there is no reasonable alternative solution. - 1 - C, There is hereby :added to Chapter 14 "Requirements for Group R, Division 3 Occupancies" a new Section to be designated as Section 141.4 and which shall read as follows; "It is hereby established that the paved vehicular access (driveway) to any :R-3 Occupancy (as defined in the Uniform Building Code) shall not exceed a slope of 10% from the property line to the required off-street stall." E.XCEPTIONSZ The Building Official may allow the driveway to exceed 100 (but not to exceed 150) when requested in writing from both the owner and the contractor, providing that in the opinion of the Building Official there is no i reasonable alternative solution. d. All references in Chapter 17 or any other Chapter of this Code to handicap standards will be superseded by the Washington State Rules and Regulations for Barrier - Free Design. e. Section 3305 (j) "Handrails" - Exception is added to state the following; Stairways hauling less than four risers need not have handrails. f. Section 4506 (b) "Awnings" - Exception is hereby amended to read:. Fixed awnings of any length may be erected on a one story building. g. Section 305 (e) 2. to be deleted. Section 2. Chapters 32 and 70 of the Appendix of the Uniform Building Code -1979 Edition are hereby adopted. Section 3. Ordinance 2022 and any other ordinances inconsistent with the provisions of this Ordinance shall be and the same are hereby repealed. - 2 - Section 4.
