AN ORDINANCE of the City of Kent,
Washington, relating to zoning, amending the
City's zoning code regarding signage
requirements for automobile service stations.
WHEREAS, a regulatory review request to consider amending
Section 15.06.050 of the Kent City Code regarding signage
requirements for automobile service stations was submitted to the
Planning Department; and
WHEREAS, the Planning Commission recommends amending the
code at its meeting of September 28, 1987; and
WHEREAS, a public hearing on the aforesaid review request
was held at a regular meeting of the Kent City Council at 7:00
o'clock p.m., October 20, 1987, in the Council Chambers of the
City Hall, Kent, Washington; NOW, THEREFORE,
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF KENT, WASHINGTON DOES
HEREBY ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Section 15.06.050B.3. is hereby amended as
Ifollows:
3. Automobile service station signs. The aggregate
sign area for any lot shall not exceed one (1) square foot for
�each foot of lot frontage and the permitted signs enumerated below
Ishall be subject to the total aggregate sign area.
a. One (1) freestanding, lighted double-faced
identification sign, not exceeding one hundred fifty (150) square
feet for the total of all faces with no ((one)) such face
exceeding seventy-five (75) square feet, is permitted. Such sign
shall not exceed a height of thirty (30) feet or two monument
signs (if on a corner lot) not to exceed sixty (60) square feet
per sign for the total of all faces, such signs shall not exceed a
ieight of fifteen (15) feet Free standing signs shall be lighted
luring business hours only. ((The sign shall be lighted during
)usiness hours only.))
b. Three additional signs shall be permitted
ubject to the following restrictions: the total area of all
igns, graphics, or other advertising shall not be more than ten
10) percent of the building facade to which they are attached or
isplayed.
C. Fuel price signs shall be exempt from the
ggregate sign area but shall be limited to thirty (30) square
eet total.
Section 2. No vested rights shall be affected by the
rovisions of this ordinance.
Section 3. Effective Date. This ordinance shall take
ffect and be in force five (5) days from and after its passage,
pproval and publication as provided by law.
