AN ORDINANCE of the City of Kent,
Washington, relating to the licensing and
regulation of amusement devices and arcades;
amending Sections 5.19.020, 5.19.030, 5.19.054,
5.19.080 Kent City Code; repealing Kent City
Code 5.19.090; to eliminate the requirement for
individual amusement device licenses, and to
simplify licensing procedures.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF KENT, WASHINGTON DOES
HEREBY ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:

Section 1. Kent City Code 5.19.020 is amended to read as
5.19.020. LICENSE REQUIRED. It is unlawful
for any person to ((ewa)-) display any amusement
device, which is available for use by the public,
without first obtaining and displaying an amusement
device license issued in accordance with the
provisions of this Chapter. The license shall be

displayed publicly so that it is readily visible.
The number of amusement devices displayed on the
premises shall correspond to the number of devices_
authorized by the amusement device license.
Section 2. Kent City Code 5.19.030 is amended to read as
5.19.030. LICENSE FEE. The (( !9eR6e4) fee
for any amusement device license shall be Fifty
Dollars ($50.00) per year per device.
Section 3. Kent City Code 5.19.054 is amended to read as
5.19.054. TEMPORARY LICENSES.
A. The fee for any temporary amusement
device( -(-r-)-) license( ) shall
be Ten Dollars ($10.00) per device.
B. A Master Arcade License shall not be
required for temporary use of more than ten
amusement devices at one location.
C. Temporary use for the purpose of the fees
and exemptions of this section means the operation
of amusement devices at a licensed fair, carnival,
circus, or similar event, the duration of which does
not exceed fourteen days.

Section 4. Kent City Code 5.19.080 is amended to read as
5.19.080. PRORATION OF ANNUAL LICENSE FEE.
The license fee or Master Arcade License fee shall
be one-half of the annual license fee should the
amusement devices or arcade be operated only during
the last six months of an annual license period.
Section 5. Kent City Code 5.19.090 "Transfer or
Replacement of Licenses" is hereby repealed.
Section 6. Effective Date. This ordinance shall take
effect and be in force five (5) days from and after its passage,
approval and publication as provided by law.
