AN ORDINANCE of the City of Kent,
I^J� Washington, relating to the Office of City
Attorney; amending KCC 2.10.070 to authorize the
City Attorney to set the salaries of Assistant
City Attorneys upon merit principles, subject to
the Annual City Budget.
WHEREAS, Chapter 2.10 KCC creates the Office of Kent City'
Attorney; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to KCC 2.10.050 the City Attorney has
the appointing authority for Assistant City Attorneys; and
WHEREAS, Assistant City Attorneys occupy professional
positions with substantial responsioility and authority; and
WHEREAS, it is appropriate that merit principles guide
the assignment of compensation to Assistant City Attorneys; NOW
THEREFORE
THE CITY OF KENT, WASHINGTON, DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. KCC 2.10.070 is amended as follows:
2.10.070. SALARY. The salary of the City Attorney shall
be that as established in the Annual City Budget. The
salary of Assistant City Attorneys shall be set by the
City Attorney within the authority granted by the Annual
City Budget.
Section 2. Effective Date. This ordinance shall take
effect and be in force five (5) days from and after its passage,
approval and publication as provided by law.
