HomeMy WebLinkAbout3016ORDINANCE NO. �1 AN ORDINANCE of the City of Kent, Washington, repealing Ordinance 2387 relating to the licensing and regulation of private security guard services. i WHEREAS, Chapter 334, Laws of 1991, relating to the 'i licensing for regulatory purposes of private security guards, and private security companies, is armed private security guards, ,exclusive and prohibits any governmental subdivision of this I state, including the City of Kent, to enact any laws or rules ilicensing such persons for regulatory purposes; and WHEREAS, City of Kent Ordinance No. 2387 (KCC Chapter 5.23) was enacted to license and regulate private security ,guards, armed private security guards, and private security companies, and WHEREAS, the state legislatures enactment of Chapter 334, Laws of 1991, requires that the City of Kent now repeal its ,laws and rules licensing such persons for regulatory purposes; i SNOW THEREFORE THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF KENT, WASHINGTON DOES HEREBY ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Ordinance 2387 (KCC Chapter 5.23) entitled: "AN ORDINANCE of the City of Kent, Washington, relating to private security business; repealing Chapter 5.22 (Ordinance No. 1693) relating to merchant patrols; adopting a new Chapter 5.23 of the Kent City Code regulating private security services; providing penalties for violation of the Code; and authorizing an agreement with King County for enforcement of the Code." is hereby repealed. Section 2. This ordinance shall take effect and be in force thirty (30) days from and after its final passage, approval and publication as provided by law.'
