WHEREAS, the Kent City Council has adopted floodplain
guidelines and maps established by the Federal Emergency
Management Agency ("FEMA"); and
ORDINANCE NO. 11 9
AN ORDINANCE of the City Council of the
City of Kent, Washington, amending Kent City
Code Section 14.09.060 relating to areas of
special flood hazard.
WHEREAS, the floodplain maps have been updated by FEMA
through a revised flood insurance study and, therefore, the city
code should be amended to incorporate the updated study and maps;
NOW, THEREFORE,
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF KENT, WASHINGTON, DOES
HEREBY ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. Kent City Code Section 14.09.060 is hereby
amended as follows:

Sec. 14.09.060. Basis for establishing the areas of special
flood hazard.
The areas of special flood hazard identified by the
federal insuranee aelfainistratien Federal Emergency Management
AaencX in a scientific and engineering report entitled "ire Flood'
Insurance Study for King County, Washington and Incorporated
Areas," dated September 30, 194494, with accompanying flood
insurance maps is hereby adopted by reference and declared to be
a part of this chapter as if stated verbatim. The flood
insurance study is on file and available for examination at the
office of the department of public works.
SECTION 2. Severability. If any section, sentence,
clause or phrase of this ordinance should be held to be invalid
or unconstitutional by a court of competent jurisdiction, such
invalidity or unconstitutionality shall not affect the validity
or constitutionality of any other section, sentence, clause or
phrase of this ordinance.
SECTION 3. Effective Date. This ordinance shall
take effect and be in force thirty (30) days from and after its
passage, approval and publication as provided by law.
