ORDINANCE NO. 3 3 3 4
AN ORDINANCE of the City Council of the City of Kent,
Washington, amending Section 2.02.010 of the Kent City Code
relating to compensation for the Mayor, providing for increases to the
base salary of the Mayor beginning in 1998.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF KENT, WASHINGTON, DOES
HEREBY ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. Section 2.02.010 of the Kent City Code is amended as follows:
See. 2.02.010. Compensation.
Beginning January 1, 4-9441998, the base salary of the mayor of the city shall be €ftyei ht
thousand dollars ($3&099-9980.000.00) per year, f4ethis compensation reflecting the fact that the
position of the mayor 4the -ems is a full-time position begittning on stteh deAe. The maXor shall
not be entitled to any cost of living allowance ("COLA"). In addition to Steil ehfflige the base
salary, the mayor shall be entitled to receive all benefits associated with full-time employment
with the city, as established by city policy for this position. SttehThese benefits may be adjusted
from time to time, on a city-wide basis, in accordance with city policy. AftyHowever,
adjustments increasing benefits beyond those provided to full-time employees and any increases
in salary shall be by ordinance pursuant to RCW 35A.12.070.
SECTION 2. If any one or more sections, sub -sections, or sentences of this
chapter are held to be unconstitutional or invalid, such decision shall not affect the validity of the
remaining portion of this Ordinance and the same shall remain in full force and effect.
SECTION 3. This Ordinance shall take effect and be in force thirty (30) days
from and after its passage, approval and publication as provided by law.
