SUBJECT: Boundaries of proposed Public
Utility District No. 1, King County.
WHEREAS, the City of Kent, a city of the third class, in
the County of King, State of washington, now has a municipally
lr~.th~n owned water distri~ system with a supply of pure spring water
which does not require chlorination or other treatment, suf-
ficient to supply a population of several times the present
population of the said city, and
WHEREAS, the City of Kent is now being efficiently served
with electric lights and power in a manner satisfactory to
the inhabitants thereof, and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Kent is not
opposed to the general proposition of public ownership of
electric light, power and water utilities in proper cases
and in districts with proper boundaries, now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Kent
that it is the opinion of this City Council at this time
that if any change is to be made from the present system of
electric light and power distribution in the City of Kent,
public welfare and convenience of the inhabitants of this
the
city would be better served by the City of Kent alone owning
and operating its own system as a separate unit and thereby
having home rule and complete control and the opportunity
for close-up personal observation of its management.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that it is the sense of this
City Council that all area and territory embraced within
the city limits of the City of Kent, to-wit, all of Precincts
numbered one to four inclusive of said city, in King County,
have been unjustly and improperly included within the proposed
public utility district No. 1, King County, and will not be
benefited by inclusion in said district.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this City Council hereby
protests against Precincts No. l, 2, 3, and 4, or any portion
or portions thereof, or any portion or portions of the City
of Kent being included in the said proposed public utility
district No. 1, King County, and hereby respectfully re-
quests that the honorable Board of County Commissioners of
King County exclude all of said precincts from the said
district.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a certified copy of this
Resolution be filed with the Board of County Commissioners
of King County.
