CITY OF KENT
WHEREAS, various requests have been received by the City of Kent asking
the City to officially endorse the recommendation of the Lt. Governor of the State
of Washington with reference to the location of the forthcoming World Fair, and,
WHEREAS, the recommendation of the Lt. Governor and others suggest that
a location for the World Fair be .selected on a location south of the Kent Des Moines
Road and North of the Peasly Canyon Road and west of the proposed new free-way
located east of Primary State Highway # 1, and,
WHEREAS, there are within said undeveloped acreage, large plats available
for purchase at a price far less than acreage could be acquired in down-town Seattle,
and,
WHEREAS, the location of the World Fair Site in the area as suggested above
would facilitate the flow of traffic both north and south of the site, would eliminate
the nece8sity of all traffic from the south and east flowing into and through the con-
ge sted areas of Seattle; would further tend to expedite the construction of the proposed
free-way and would make it possible to adequately provide vehicle parking space at
the Fair site and would further provide a site for a large civic stadium and center
conducive to development for major league baseball and professional athletics of all
kinds and would thereby enhance the entire Seattle Tacoma region, and,
WHEREAS, the Mayor and the City Council of the City of Kent feel that the re-
commendation of the Lt. Governor bears considerable merit and deserves the unqual-
ified attention of the World Fair Commission and the otiler authorized parties both
public and private, interested in and charged with the responsibility of selecting a
site for the world fair.
NOW THEREFORE IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED by the Mayor and the City Council
of the City of Kent as follows:
1. That the World Fair Commission and all other persons now investigating the
selection and acquisition of a site for the World Fair give serious consideration
to the selection and location of the proposed World Fair at some site within the
area bounded on the north by the Kent-Des Moines Road, on the south by Peasley
Canyon Road.

2. That the selection of this site would expedite the location and
commencement of World Fair planning.
3. That copies of this resolution be forwarded to all cities in the
surrounding area, requesting their adoption of this resolution or a similar
resolution.
The Mayor and the City Council of Kent believe that such a selection
would be more desirable and advantageous to the entire planning, traffic
control, parking development, and future improvement of the Seattle,
Tacoma, and Puget Sound Regiono
