HomeMy WebLinkAbout6551 I 3 4 5 6 7 8 RESOLUTION NO,. b 6~ WHEREAS Title Vll of the Housing Act of 1961, as amended, provides for the making of grants by the Secretary of Housing and Urban Development to States and local public bodies to assist them in the acquisition and development of permanent interests in land for open-space uses where such assistance is needed for carrying out a unified or officially coordinated program for the provision and development of open-space as part of the compre- 9 hensively planned development of the urban area; and 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 WHEREAS the City of Kent desires to acquire fee simple title to certain land known as Upper Mi I I Creek Canyon, which land is to be held and used for permanent open-space land for park and recreational purposes; and WHEREAS Title V1 of the Civi I Rights Act of 1964, and the regulations of the Department of Housing and Urban Development effectuating that Title, provide that no person shal I be dis- criminated against because of race, color, or national or1g1n :.1 1 n the use of the I and acquired and/ or deve I oped; and WHEREAS it is recognized that the contract for Federal 21 grant w i"hJ 1 mpose certain obI i gat ions and res pons i b i I it i es upon 22 23 24 25 26 27 28 29 30 31 32 the Applicant and wi I I require among other things (1) assurances that fami I ies and individuals displaced as a result of the open-1 I ! space land project are offered decent, safe, and sanitary housingt i (2) compliance with Federal labor standards, and. (3) compliance [ I with Federal requirements relating to equal employment opportunity; I ' i and WHEREAS it is estimated that the cost of acqu1r1ng said interest wi I I be $200,340.00: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF KENT: OS-151 1 1.
