HomeMy WebLinkAbout529RESOLUTION NO. _ S d._ 9 A RESOLUTION of the City of Kent, Washington, declaring the intention of the City Council to im- prove certain streets and avenues in the city by the construction and installation of curbs and gut- ters, pavement, sidewalks and drainage facilities and by doing all other work necessary in connection therewith and incidental thereto, arid fixing a time and date for a hearing on this resolution. BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Kent, Washington, as follows: Section 1. That it is the intention of the City Council of the City of Kent, Washington, to order the improvement of the following de scribed streets and avenues within the city by the construction and installation of the following described improvements: A. By the installation of cement concrete curbs and gutters, asphaltic concrete paving, storm drainage, and replacement of existing sidewalk as required On From To James Street N. First Avenue N. Third Avenue B. By the installation of cement concrete curbs and gutters, asphaltic concrete paving, storm drainage, and concrete sidewalk one side On From To James Street N. Third Avenue N. Fourth Avenue N. Fourth Avenue Smith Street James Street C. By the installation of cement concrete curbs and gutters, widening the existing pavement with cement concrete pavement, storm drainage, and replacement of existing sidewalk as required On From To N. Fourth Avenue Harrison Street Smith Street D. By the installation of concrete sidewalk on the west side of the street On From To N. First Avenue Temperance Street James Street and by doing an other work necessary in connection therewith and incidental thereto. Section 2. The estimated cost of the construction and install- ation of the above described improvements and the doing of all work nee- essary in connection therewith and incidental thereto is hereby declared to be, as near as may be, the sum of $125, 000. 00 and it is the intention of the City Council that approximately $87, 000. 00 of such cost shall be borne by assessments levied in the manner required by law upon the real properties benefited by the proposed improvements, and that approximately $38,000.00 of the mst of such improvements be borne by the City of Kent. Section 3. The city• engineer is hereby directed to submit to the Council at or prior to the date fixed for the hearing on this resolution a statement of the estimated cost and expense of such improvements, the portion thereof that should be borne by the property within the proposed district, and the portion thereof to be borne by the city, a statement in detail of the local improvement district assessments outstanding and unpaid against the propoerty in this proposed local improvement district, and the aggregate actual valuation of the real estate including 25o/o of the actual valuation of the improvements in the proposed district, according to the valuation last placed upon it for the purposes of general taxation, together with a diagram or print showing thereon the lots, tracts, parcels of land and other property which will be specially benefited by said improvements, and the estimated amount of the cost and expense thereof to be borne by each lot, tract, parcel of land or other property within the proposed local im- provement district. Section 4. All persons who may desire to object to the formation of such district are hereby notified to appear and pre sent such objections at a meeting of the City Council to be held at the City Hall 303 West Gowe Street at 8 o'clock p. m~ on September 8, 1964, which time and place are hereby fixed for hearing of matters relating to said proposed improvements and all objections thereto, and for determining the method of paying for said im- provements. The City Clerk and city· ,41(.£ engineer w hereby directed to pre- pare and give notice of such hearing in the manner required by law. PASSED by the Council of the City of Kent, Washington, and approved by its Mayor at a regular meeting of said Council held this 17th day of August, 1964.
