A Resolution of the City Council of the CitY of
Kent approving a proposed action fer annexation of'
certain territory to the City of Kent.
WHEREAS, on October 10, 19Dl, there was filed with the City
Clerk of the City of Kent, a municipal corporation of the third
class in King County, Washington, a petitbn, represented to be
by qualified voters equal to 20% of the votes cast in the area
in said petition described in the last election, praying that
the Commissioners of King County, Washington, call an election
on the question of annexing the said area to the City of' Kent; and
WHEREAS, said petition was presented to the legislative body
of the City of Kent, to-wit, the City Council of the City of Kent,
on the 16th day of October, 1961; and
WHEREAS, the property in said petition described and concerning
which an election on the question of annexation to the City of
Kent is sought, is an unincorporated area of King County, Wash-
ington, contiguous to the City of Kent, and is bounded as follows:
Beginning at the point of intersection of the center line of
SSH 5-A and the center line of the New Military Road, also
known as 36th Ave. South, and thence run Easterly and South-
erly, along the center line of SSH 5-A, to the South line of
the NW l/4 of the NE 1/4, Sec. 22, T22N,R4E WM.j thence
Westerly along said South line of the NW 1/4 of' the NE 1/4
to the SW corner thereof; thence Northerly along the West line,
said NW 1/4 of the NE 1/4, to the Southeast corner of Valley
Vista, as recorded in Vol. 56 of Plats, pages 42 and 43, Record
of King County, Washington; thence Westerly, along the South
line of said Valley Vista, and the South line extended Westerl:,'
to the center line of 3oth Ave. South; thence Northerly along
said c~er line of 3Dth Ave. So. to the point of beginning;
WHEREAS, said petition is now bei'ore the City Council of the
City of Kent for approval or disapproval of the action proposed
by the petitioners named in said petition; and
WHEREAS) less than sixty (60) days has passed since the filing
of said petition with the City Council of the City of Kent; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Kent has considered
the petition and the action proposed tnrein;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City
of Kent, in regular meeting assembled:

1. 'l'hat the Cit;y Council of the City of Kent approves the
action proposed in said petition, and, in the event the election
sought is held} and the vote therein is in favor of the annexatio
of said area, will accept annexation of said area.
2. That the City Clerk of the City of Kent be and he is
hereby directed to give notice to the petitioners of the approval
of the proposed action and of the requirement of the City Council
in connection therewith, by publication of a notice for two con-
secutive weeks in the Kent News Journal, a newspaper printed and
published in the City of Kent.
3. That the City Clerk be and he is hereby authorized and
directed on behalf of said petitioners, to file said petition,
together with a certified copy of this resolution, with the
Board of County Commissioners of King County, Washington, in
Seattle, Washington.
