A RESOLUTION of the City Council
of the City of Kent, Washington expressing
its opposition to closure of South 208th Street
Burlington Northern Railroad grade crossing.
WHEREAS there is currently pending a matter before the
Washington Utilities and Transportation Commission designated
as Cause #TR-1200 in which the Utilities and Transportation
Commission is seeking closure of the grade crossing at South
208th Street and the Burlington Northern Railroad tracks, and
WHEREAS the matter of said closure has previously been
before the Kent City Council, and
WHEREAS on April 21, 1975 the Kent City Council took
the position that that crossing should not be closed until an-
other route to the area served by the crossing is available
for the convenience of the residents and businesses of the
area, and
WHEREAS no such alternate route is yet available to
serve the area currently served by said crossing, NOW, THERE-
FORE
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF KENT, WASHINGTON, DO
HEREBY RESOLVE:
Section 1. That the Council continue to oppose the
closure of the South 208th Street and Burlington Northern
Railroad grade crossing until such time as an alternate route
is available to serve the residents of the area.
Section 2. A copy of this Resolution be forwarded to
the Washington Utilities and Transportation Commission to be
included in the official record of that hearing designated as
Cause #TR-1200.
PASSED at a regular meeting of the Kent City Council
this 2nd day of July, 1979.
