A RESOLUTION of the City Council of
the City of Kent, Washington, directing
the Kent Planning Commission to hold pub-
lic hearings on possible amendment to the
Kent Zoning Code to prohibit MHP Combining
Districts in R-1 Residential District Zones,
and declaring a moratorium on Residential Re-
zones until completion of the public hearings
and final action by the Kent City Council.
WHEREAS, the City Council has been presented with a
petition bearing some one thousand (1,000) signatures asking
that' the City consider amending the Kent Zoning Code to exclude
MHP Combining Districts from R-1 Residential Zoning Districts,
and
WHEREAS, the City Council met in Workshop Session to
discuss the petition and the desirability of the requested amend-
ment to the Zoning Code, and
WHEREAS, the views and concerns expressed by the public
at the Workshop Session, together with the views and concerns of
those persons who signed the petition are persuasive evidence that
considerable sentiment exists in the City for the requested Zoning
Code amendment, NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
KENT, WASHINGTON, DO HEREBY
RESOLVE
Section 1. That the Kent Planning Commission be and
hereby is directed to hold public hearings regarding the amendment
of the Kent Zoning Code to prohibit MHP Combining Districts in R-1
Residential District zones,
Section 2. The Planning Commission shall commence its
public hearings no later than May 28, 1974.

Section 3. Until such time as the Planning Commission
has concluded its hearings and the City Council has acted upon
recommendations of the Planning Commission, a moratorium on re-
zones from R-1 to any higher density residential classification
is hereby declared.
