RESOLUTION NO. j_(CX ~
A RESOLUTION of the City Council of the City of
Kent, Washington, declaring its intention to order
the installation of a traffic signal at the intersec-
tion of 74th Avenue South and State Route 516 within
the City, and to create a local improvement district
to assess the cost and expense of carrying out such
improvement against the properties specially bene-
fited thereby, and notifying all persons who desire
to object to the improvement to appear and present
their objections at a hearing before the City Council
to be held on May 5, 1987.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF KENT,
WASHINGTON, as follows:
Section 1. It is the intention of the City Council of the
City of Kent, Washington, to order the improvement of the prop-
erties within the area described in Exhibit A, attached hereto
and by this reference made a part hereof, by the the installa-
tion of a traffic signal at the intersection of 74th Avenue
South and State Route 516, including interconnecting the signal
with the overall traffic signal system of the City. The
proposed improvement also includes revisions to other existing
signals in the vicinity to allow for the interconnection within
the City.
All of the foregoing improvement shall be in accordance
with the plans and specifications therefor prepared by the City
Engineer and may be modified by the City as long as such modifi-
cation does not affect the purpose of the improvement.
Section 2. The total estimated cost and expense of the
improvement is declared to be $182,325. Approximately $25,530
of such cost and expense shall be paid by the City and the
balance thereof shall be borne by and assessed against the
property specially benefited by such improvement to be included
in a local improvement district to be established embracing as
nearly as practicable all the property specially benefited by
the improvement.
Section 3. All persons who may desire to object to the
improvement described herein are notified to appear and present
such objections at a hearing before the City Council to be held
in the Council Chambers in the City Hall in Kent, Washington, at
7:00p.m., local time, on May 5, 1987, which time and place are
fixed for hearing all matters relating to the proposed improve-
ment and all objections thereto and for determining the method
of payment for the improvement. All persons who may desire to
object thereto should appear and present their objections at
such hearing. Any person who may desire to file a written
protest with the City Council may do so within thirty days after
the date of passage of the ordinance ordering the improvement in
the event the local improvement district is formed. Such
written protest should be signed by the property owner, should
include the legal description of the property for which the
protest is filed and should be delivered to the City Clerk.
Section 4. The City's Director of Public Works is directed
to submit to the City Council on or prior to May 5, 1987, all
data and information required by law to be submitted.
Passed at a regular public meeting by the City Council of
the City of Kent, Washington, this '7 day of April, 1987.
