A RESOLUTION of the City Council of the
City of Kent, washington, authorizing
applicatjons tor funding assistance for an
outdoor recreation project to the Interagency
Committee for outdoor Recreation as provided by
the Marine Recreation Land Act.
WHEREAS, the City council of the City of Kent nas
approved a •comprehensive Park and Recreation Plan" for the urban
area which identifies a corridor park on Green River in the
northern part of the City; and;
WHEREAS, under the provisions of the Marine Recreation
Land Act, state and federal funding assistance has been authorized
and made available to aid in financing the cost of land for parks
and the construction of outdoor recreational facilities of local
public bodies; and
WHEREAS, the City council of the City of Kent considers
it in the best public interest to develop a river corridor parK in
the northern part of the City generally located south of Tukwila
city limits, north of the Boeing plant, and bordering on the Green
River to the west, and southcenter Corporate Park development to
the east; NOW, THEREFORE,
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF KENT 1 ~JASHINGTON IJOES
HEREBY RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. That the I1ayor be authorized to 1.1ake formetl
application to the Interagency Committee for outdoor Recreation
for funding assistance.
Section 2. That any fund assistance so received ue used
in the development of fourteen (14) acres of land in the northern
part of the City of Kent, Washington.
Section 3. That the City's share of the project will be
derived from budgeted federal Revenue Sharing and donated waterietl
and labor.
Section 4. The City of Kent does hereby certify that the
City is responsible to support all non-cash commitments to the
local share should they not materialize.
Section 5. That any property acquired \lith financial aid
through the Interagency Committee for outdoor Recreation be placed
in use as an outdoor recreation facility and be retained in such
use in perpetuity unless as otherwise provided and agreed to by
the City Council, the Interagency Committee tor uutdoor
Recreation, and any affected federal agency.
Section 6. That this resolution become part of a formal
application to the Interagency Committee for Outdoor Hecreation.
Section 7. That adequate notification bas been given anJ
opportunity provided for public input and that published notices
have identified affected flood plains and/or wetlands, if
applicable.
