A RESOLUTION of the City Council of the City
of Kent, Washington, supporting the activities of the
Business Computer Instruction and Retraining College
(BCIR) in Kent.
WHEREAS, the City of Kent's Comprehensive Plan, adopted by Resolution
#817, has a goal which states, ~Encourage and support full educational opportun-
ities for Kent residents of all ages, at a level commensurate with their abilities,
desires and needs~; and
WHEREAS, the Comprehensive Plan has an objective which states, ~support
continuing education, community education, vocational education and preschool
programs~, and,
WHEREAS, the Comprehensive Plan has a policy which states, "Participate
in programs for multiple funding to help support vocational, community, continuing
education and preschool programs", and
WHEREAS, the Comprehensive Plan has an additional policy which states,
"Actively seek outside funding sources", and
WHEREAS, the BCIR College is located in Kent's Central Business District,
and
WHEREAS, the BCIR College is registered with the State of Washington.
Council for Post Secondary Education and the Washington State Commission for
Vocational Education, and,
WHEREAS, the BCIR College offers educational programs that lead to
a one year certificate in six computer related career fields and a two year
Associate of Applied Science Degree in six computer related career fields, and
WHEREAS, the BCIR College programs are supportive of Kent's Comprehen-
sive Plan goals, objectives, and policies; NOW, THEREFORE,
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF KENT, WASHINGTON, DO HEREBY RESOLVE:
Section 1: The City of Kent supports the educational philosophies
and goals of the Business Computer Instruction and Retraining College(BCIR).
