A RESOLUTION of the City Council of the
City of Kent, Washington eliminating the Two
Hundred Fifty Dollar ($250) fee and related
policy concerning outside City water service.
WHEREAS, in 1980 the Kent City Council adopted a policy
which declared that requests for Kent Water Service to areas
outside City limits and those annexed after adoption of said
policy, would be denied due to insufficient water supply; and
WHEREAS, in 1981 that policy was amended so that water
supply would be provided to such areas if an offsetting water
supply was provided; and
WHEREAS, in 1983 the Council again amended the policy to
provide that applicants for water service outside the City limits
of Kent would be allowed service by paying a fee of Two Hundred
Fifty Dollars ($250) in addition to the normal water service
charges, such a fee being in the alternative to providing an
offsetting water supply; and
WHEREAS, the Water System Plan has been adopted and the
financing for the water system improvements has been approved, and
it being recommended that the policy for outside City water
services be discontinued; NOW THEREFORE
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF KENT, WASHINGTON DOES
RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. That policy adopted at a regular meeting of
the City Council of the City of Kent, Washington on January 19,
1981, and April 18, 1983 whereby applicants for water service
outside the City limits of Kent would be allowed service only upon
the provision of an offsetting water supply or the payment of a
fee of Two Hundred Fifty Dollars ($250), be and the same is
repealed and the requirement for offsetting water supply or fee is
eliminated. This resolution does not affect other fees, charges,
covenants or other requirements necessary for the extension of
water services outside the City limits of the City of Kent.
