A RESOLUTION of the City Council of the City
of Kent, Washington, relating to community
development and adopting water policy statements.
WHEREAS, the City Council has a legal responsibility to
provide for the health, life safety, and general welfare of the
community, and
WHEREAS, the City Council legally must assume
responsibility for the adequacies of services and take whatever
steps are necessary to assure the maintenance of those levels of
service, and
WHEREAS, the City Council has adopted the goal for the
City of Kent that all development within the City shall be
predicated upon the City's ability to provide an acceptable level
of services to support such development.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF KENT, WASHINGTON, DO
HEREBY RESOLVE:
Section 1. It shall be the policy of the City of Kent
that the adequacy of the City's water system shall be predicated
upon its ability to meet its peak demand use. The City will
endeavor to maintain the current level of service to its water
customers. When shortages are clearly imminent or projected to
occur in the future, the City will seek to restrict the advent of
additional demand. The City is now pursuing and will continue to
pursue all alternatives for additional supply.
Section 2. The administrative staff of the City be and
hereby are directed to commence development for Council review of
strategies for future implementation of the policy referred to in
Section 1 above. /)
